Tuteome Private Limited (“Tuteome,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates tuteome.com, the Tuteome iOS and Android apps, and related services for live one-on-one language classes (together, the “Services”).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we store and protect it, who we share it with, and how you can request access, correction, or account deletion.

If you have questions, email support@tuteome.com.

By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you are a parent or guardian, you also agree on behalf of any child whose information you provide to us.

Who we are

Tuteome Private Limited

Email: support@tuteome.com

Website: https://tuteome.com

Scope

This policy covers:

  • Our website (tuteome.com)

  • The Tuteome mobile apps

  • Accounts, classes, chat, voice calls, payments, invoices, and support

  • Data processed by our service providers on our behalf

It does not cover third-party sites or apps we do not control (for example a Google Meet or Zoom link used for a class). Those services have their own privacy policies.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run classes, accounts, payments, and support.

Account and profile — Name, email address, phone number (if provided), date of birth, country, profile photo or avatar, role (parent, student, tutor, coordinator, or staff), timezone, and authentication identifiers. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider (Clerk).

Family and enrolment — Parent–student relationships, course enrolments, assigned tutors and coordinators, class schedules, confirmations, cancellations, leave, and meeting join details (for example Google Meet or Zoom links).

Chat and media — Messages you send in the app, plus photos, videos, and voice notes you attach. Attachments are stored so the other person can view them later.

Voice calls — When you place or receive a call in the app, we process the live audio (and any call signalling data) to connect the call. We store call metadata such as who called, when, and status. We do not keep a recording of the live call audio unless we clearly tell you otherwise.

Payments and billing — Credit purchases, amounts, currency, GST where applicable, payment status, invoices, and refunds. Card and UPI details are collected by our payment partner (Razorpay), not stored by Tuteome as full card numbers. We store payment references, order IDs, and invoice records. Tutors may provide bank and tax details for payouts; those fields are stored encrypted.

Device and notifications — Device platform (iOS or Android), push-notification tokens, notification preferences, and timezone reported by the device so we can send class reminders and chat alerts.

Support and communications — Emails, messages, and files you send to support, plus records of invitations we send you.

Diagnostics — App crash reports, performance logs, and a sample of session diagnostics (including error replay) so we can fix bugs. This may include device information and, in limited cases, information visible on screen at the time of an error.

Website — When you visit tuteome.com, our hosting provider may collect technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, and may set cookies needed to run the site. The mobile app does not show third-party advertising.

Permissions on your device — The app may ask for microphone (calls and voice messages), camera and photo library (chat), and notifications. Those stay on your device until you use a feature that sends that content to us (for example sending a photo or joining a call).

We do not sell personal information.

How we use your information

  • Create and manage accounts, including invitations

  • Schedule, remind, confirm, and run classes

  • Provide in-app chat, attachments, and voice calls

  • Process payments, credits, invoices, and refunds

  • Notify you about classes, chat, and account activity

  • Provide customer support

  • Keep the Services secure and prevent fraud or abuse

  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting duties

  • Improve reliability (crash reports and diagnostics)

We do not use children’s data for targeted advertising.

How we store your information

  • Account, classes, payments, and profiles are stored in our cloud database (PostgreSQL, accessed through our Cloudflare-hosted backend).

  • Live chat is stored in our real-time infrastructure and a database copy used for the service.

  • Chat photos, videos, and voice notes are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage.

  • Sign-in sessions are stored by Clerk. On your phone, auth tokens are kept in the device’s secure storage.

  • Invoices and books records are stored with Zoho Books.

  • Payment processing records are stored with Razorpay.

  • Emails are sent through Amazon SES.

  • Crash and diagnostic data are stored with Sentry.

  • Tutor bank and tax details are stored encrypted at rest.

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as long as we need it to provide the Services. After deletion, we keep only what we must for tax, accounting, dispute, or legal requirements (for example invoices and payment records), and we restrict access to that data.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the data we hold, including:

  • HTTPS/TLS for data in transit

  • Authenticated API access (signed-in sessions)

  • Role-based access so parents, students, tutors, and staff only see what they need

  • Encryption of sensitive tutor payout details

  • Secure storage of session tokens on the device

  • Infrastructure hosted with established cloud providers (including Cloudflare)

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a data incident that affects you, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.

Who we share information with

We share personal data only as needed to operate the Services: Clerk (account creation and sign-in); Razorpay (payment links and processing); Zoho Books (sales orders, invoices, and GST records); LiveKit (live voice calls); Cloudflare (hosting, storage, and delivery of the backend and files); Amazon SES (transactional email); Apple, Google, and Expo (push notifications and app updates); Sentry (crash reporting and diagnostics); and tutors, coordinators, and staff (delivering classes, chat, and support).

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or transfer of the business, subject to this policy.

Service providers may only use the data to perform services for us.

Children’s information

Tuteome provides language classes for children. We collect a child’s information (such as name, date of birth, class schedule, and class-related messages) so we can enrol them and run lessons.

  • A parent or guardian should create or control the family account, or consent when a child is invited.

  • We do not sell children’s personal information.

  • We do not use children’s data for behavioural advertising.

  • We do not require a child to provide more information than needed for classes.

If you believe we have collected a child’s data without proper consent, email support@tuteome.com and we will review and delete it where required.

Account deletion

To delete your Tuteome account and related personal data, email support@tuteome.com from the email address on the account.

Please include:

  1. The name and email on the account

  2. A clear request to delete the account

  3. Whether you also want linked student profiles deleted (for parent accounts)

We will verify the request and complete deletion within 30 days, unless a shorter period is required by law. We will delete or anonymise personal data we no longer need, including profile details, chat content we hold, device tokens, and app account access.

We may retain limited records where the law requires it (for example invoices, payment references, and GST records) or where we must resolve a dispute. Those records are not used for marketing.

Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. You must email us as described above.

Your other rights

Subject to applicable law (including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, where it applies, GDPR or CCPA), you may ask us to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data

  • Delete data (including account deletion, as above)

  • Restrict or object to certain processing

  • Receive a copy of data you provided (portability), where that right applies

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

We do not sell personal information. If you are a California resident, you may still send us a “do not sell” request at support@tuteome.com; our response will confirm that we do not sell your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@tuteome.com. We will respond within one month, or sooner if the law requires.

International transfers

We are based in India. Some providers (for example authentication, cloud hosting, payments, and diagnostics) may process data in other countries. Where we transfer data, we do so to operate the Services and with safeguards those providers offer.

Cookies and the website

tuteome.com may use cookies or similar technology that are necessary to host and secure the site, and to understand basic traffic. You can control cookies in your browser. The Tuteome mobile app does not use third-party ad networks.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Updated” date. Material changes will be notified by posting here and, where appropriate, by email or in-app notice.
